Industry Props and Internal Pride

As the team posted recently, we found out that we are finalists in 8 categories for this year’s CDN Channel Elite Awards.  I was in Ottawa for a MSP event—strategizing— when Jeremy shared the news with me.  Almost 2 weeks later, I still can’t express how excited and proud Jay and I are about the team.  As anyone would be, I am looking forward to seeing if we get the same level of industry and peer recognition that we did at last year’s awards gala.  At the 2009 event, we made 3 trips to the podium.   Can we top it?

The coolest thing about these particular awards is that we are measured on the innovation and success of our solutions and services from the client and user’s perspective.  The judging panel consists of CIOs and IT executives from high profile organizations across Canada.  For all intents and purposes, they are impartial and vendor-neutral.   We aren’t getting nominated for the best ‘Bill Gates solution’ or the most licenses sold … Rather, we are getting recognized for optimizing a client’s operations and proving real ROI and lowered TCO for their IT systems.

Last year was the first time ITW was considered for the Channel Elite awards … and we humbly happily accepted 3 silver awards (we also found out that no company ever received more than 2).   It would be  really cool to outdo ourselves this year.  The team has worked so hard improving our deliverables and increasing the value adds for our clients.  Jay and I have been really impressed the past year.   Business owners and Managers out there…you know that fear you feel as you let go of your ‘in the trenches’ skills – learning to trust your team to execute your vision…and then seeing them exceed your expectations and even implement better solutions than you ‘designed’.  Again, we are feeling uber-pride for our team.

Since 2010 was our 10th anniversary …  is it too much to ask for a little gold in our lives? I don’t think so either.  Fingers crossed and stay tuned for the results on Sept. 16th.
