Don’t Call it Outsourcing

You’re probably burning out your corporate IT folks.  With the pace of change and innovation increasing and the organizational demands on IT growing, there are still only 40-60 hours per week to get stuff done.  The vast majority of IT’s time is spent keeping the lights on. The precious remainder is spent on a crumb of R & D or training to keep up.  Never mind about taking a proper vacation.  Unless there is a change in the laws of physics or a major increase in IT budgets (HaHa) … something has to change.  In progressive organizations, it has already started.  The first lesson is realizing that getting external help to look after your IT systems isn’t about replacing anyone. Brainstorm Immortalized

Years ago, when Jay and I began dreaming up a managed services practice (MSP), we set some goals:  we would take on the accountability of our clients for the IT portion of their long and short-term business strategy.  It seemed a natural extension from our growing consulting practice; which has always been rooted in delivering the best TCO and ROI-based solutions.  We took seriously the idea that our projects had to enable our clients to make bolder and more confident business decisions; growing their own businesses becoming more profitable.  Selfishly, this made great sense for the long term success of ITW too.  As or clients grow, they would need more services from us! What does that mean?
From day one, we’ve built our business with two things in mind; integrity and expertise.  Our goal is to be honest with everyone and remain really good at what we do.  That’s how we develop our customers’ confidence and trust.  More importantly, doing the right thing—every time—is how we keep that confidence and trust. Also, we believe that our customers should focus their resources on running their business, not worrying about the stability and cost of their IT infrastructure.  That’s our job; keeping your business safe.

Cooperation

Jeremy and I spent the morning visiting with Senior Management and the IT Team for one of our newer Cloud clients.  We make it a point to spend a little more time with Cloud clients, it’s nice to stay close to forward thinking companies.  It helps us get real-time feedback on our latest services, and if nothing else, they tend to be inspiring.  We were happy to hear that they are ”… aggressively seeking growth via investments in Marketing and Technology.”   As I said to them, I get so fired up talking to small businesses that are on the move (because they are just like us).  Our growth paths are similar, and so were the core values.
