| Waterloo-based RIM has finally made the decision that so many were expecting to come. Their board of directors has unanimously named RIM COO Thorsten Heins as the new CEO and President. RIM co-founders Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis resigned this weekend, according to official press releases. While RIM has certainly faced some real challenges in the marketplace lately, and a regime change is likely what investors needed to see in order to stay faithful, Lazaridis and Balsillie have a pretty stunning legacy. Together they built one of Canada's most impressive technology company's and helped revolutionize the world of mobile devices with the invention of the BlackBerry.
