IT Weapons named in CRN's 2012 Tech Elite 250
Tuesday, 28 February 2012 16:36
ITW News
The IT Weapons team is extremely proud to be named in this year's Tech Elite 250; CRN's annual list of the top IT Solution Providers with deep technical expertise and premier certifications in North America.  With less than 10 Canadian companies on this year's list, this is a real honour for IT Weapons. Companies on the 2012 Tech Elite 250 list represent an elite group of IT Solution Providers that have invested in the training and education needed to earn the most technical certifications in the IT Channel.

Integrity and industry leading expertise are at the core of IT Weapons, and this recognition helps reinforce their importance; not just internally for our team, but in the IT marketplace as a whole.  We're very happy to be on this year's list.

In compiling the list, CRN editors worked with the UBM Channel research group and a team outside experts to define the most customer-beneficial technical certifications in the IT channel.

“The 2012 Tech Elite 250 list recognizes an exclusive group of Solution Providers that have shown a dedication to helping customers innovate while reducing costs,” said Kelley Damore, Vice President, Editorial Director at UBM Channel.  “By identifying and adapting to the skills and training needed to best serve today’s customers, members of the Tech Elite 250 have proven their commitment to delivering the products and services that today’s end-users value most.”

A sample of CRN’s 2012 Tech Elite 250 list is featured in the February issue of CRN Magazine and online at: www.crn.com.

Balsillie and Lazaridis step down from RIM
Monday, 23 January 2012 13:46
ITW News
Waterloo-based RIM has finally made the decision that so many were expecting to come. Their board of directors has unanimously named RIM COO Thorsten Heins as the new CEO and President.  RIM co-founders Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis resigned this weekend, according to official press releases.

While RIM has certainly faced some real challenges in the marketplace lately, and a regime change is likely what investors needed to see in order to stay faithful, Lazaridis and Balsillie have a pretty stunning legacy. Together they built one of Canada's most impressive technology company's and helped revolutionize the world of mobile devices with the invention of the BlackBerry.  It will be interesting to see what happens next.

CBC has great coverage of the story.  Check it out.
